Bhutan Royal Wedding Celebration at QUT in Brisbane

Bhutanese Community in Queensland (students, friends and families) supported by Aussie friends at  Queensland University of Technology (QUT) , celebrated the Royal Wedding of His Majesty the King to Her Majesty the Queen Ashi Jetsun Pema Wangchuck at the  QUT, Brisbane, Australia on the 15th of October, 2011, coinciding with the Royal Wedding ceremony at Changlingmethang Stadiun, Thimphu.

The celebration was held in a simple way to offer congratulations and prayers for the Royal Union. Celebration was not just for the gratification of the Bhutanese living here at QUT but more importantly, also to raise funds for the Bhutan Charity.

Excited Bhutanese got active in cooking Bhutanese cuisine and gearing up as Bhutanese traditional way for the celebration, bonded by community vitality. Royal Wedding celebration at Thimphu was streamed live via BBS Live TV. Everyone in festive mood, mostly dressed in traditional  “Gho” and “Kera”, danced away to the Bhutanese songs. The dinner was awesome with delicious Bhutanese cuisine – Ama Dasi, Desi, Pa Maru, you name it – that made everyone happy being part of the Royal Wedding. The Celebration ended with Tashi Lapey in tune with LIVE from Thimphu. The Celebration was definitely unforgettable memory in Brisbane –  home away from home.
